Rams have for centuries in Korea been typical tomb guardians, together with other animals and generals. They would have faced each other along the “spirit path” leading to the entrance of a nobleman’s tomb. Buff-colored granite of this type is pervasive in Korean funerary and temple sculpture and architecture.
