Qur’an
Iran
Ink and gold on paper, early 19th century
Gift of Mrs. Tonia Gale, 1969.60

This pocket-size Qur’an was meant to be carried by its owner, and the book accordingly shows signs of wear. It is written in a small but clear cursive script with extra illumination at the beginning of the book and at the start of each sura (“chapter”).
