20th century Shin-hanga Painter, Printmaker
Studied with Shijo-style painter Suzuki Kason. Under name Koson made Russo-Japanese war prints published by Matsuki Heikichi of Daikokuya for export. Changed name to Shoson and dedicated himself to painting. 1926 resumed kacho hanga production. Published mainly under Watanabe Shozaburo, Nishinomiya Yosaku and Sakai-Kawaguchi. Taught at the Tokyo School for Fine Arts and served as an advisor to the Tokyo National Museum.
