Japanese, (1870–1949)
Studied under Matsuzaki, a carber for Kobayashi Kiyochika. Kiyochika took Tsuchiya into his home and studied with him for 19 years. Designed woodblock prints during Sino-Japanes War and later worked as a lithographer. Designed figurative landscape moku-hanga published by Watanabe Shozaburo, Kawaguchi, and Doi from 1932. His prints are often characterized by dramatic use of light.
