He is also an author. Graduated from the Kyoto School of Painting, 1920.Studied Japanese-style painting with Nishibori Tosui and studied ukiyo-e in 1909. Entered Kyoto Specialist School of Painting in 1914. Studied with Takeuchi Seiho. Made small hanga portraits of actors to stimuate revival of hanga in Kansai. Known as a Japanese-style painter, writer, stage designer, and adviser to Shochiku kabuki theater.
