The bronze doors on the left hand facade of St. Peter's in Rome finally hung in 1969 were a thirty year project of Manzu. Portrait bust of Pope John XXIII, cardinals, and other persons, religious subjects and female figures comprise Manzu's oeuvre: a traditionalist, he has not been much influenced by modern art movements.
