Zajac explores the theme of anguish and sacrifice in a series of goats depicted in tortured positions, and in a number of religious works. A contrast are the fountains, swans, and almonds which are smoothly polished marble or wood. Done in rough bronze, "Big Skull" does not leave a feeling of death but the intense purity as if all unnecessary elements have been swept away. "Split Almond," of delightful smooth stone with gentle curves expresses the joy of holding a single form and having it divide, simply and naturally into two.
