The imagery on this palette, perhaps used for cosmetics, is derived from Greek prototypes. On it, a sea nymph rides a writhing aquatic dragon, which turns its head to inspect the contents of the bowl the nymph holds in her hand. Scholars remain uncertain as to whether the items were used for daily or ritual purposes.
