Temple, Palace, Mosque: 2010

In the wake of heightened contact between Buddhists from Sri Lanka and those in Thailand during the 14th century, Thai Buddha images of this period have less overtly stylized features. The volumes of the face are fuller and more rounded, and the flame that indicates the enlightened state of the Buddha is less pointed than in later Thai examples.
