Asian reinstallation
The poem surrounding this painting is a eulogy to an eminent person of learning and science, and it refers to him as someone capable of solving the most intricate problems.
The sense of volume and mass in the treatment of the figure and the softly rippling hems of the garments suggest the artist's awareness of Mughal painting from India.
On the reverse are two pages from an Islamic historical text, the Habib al-Siyar of Khwandamir (1475-1535), describing marvels and curiosities of the East.

The writing around this miniature is a eulogy to an eminent scholar in learning and science. It describes him as a person of capable of solving the most intricate problems. Judging from the treatment in the figure, with volume and mass, and the softly rippling hems of the garments, perhaps the artist was aware of painting style of Mughal miniature of India.
On the reverse, two pages from an Islamic historical text,
the Habib al-Siyar (The Friend of Biographies) by Khwandamir (1475-1535), describes marvels and curiosities of the East. Ghiyas ad-Din Muhammad Khw?ndamir (or Khondamir), one of the greatest historians of his time, was a Persian historian who died and was buried in India.
