The form and decoration of this bowl, which includes a pseudo-Chinese seal on its base, all draw inspiration from Chinese porcelains of the late Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). Tree branches and lush foliage painted in black and cobalt blue cover the surface of the bottle, while rivers, drawn as serpentine gray diagonals, traverse its bulbous body. The special iridescent effect of luster is observed in the vine stems and flowers in copper red over the transparent glaze.
