Masters of Photography: The Garner Collection, November 14, 2020
Margaret Bourke-White was the first accredited female photographer of war. She documented the liberation of several concentration camps during World War II and the shocking atrocities found there— the photographs published by Life did not include this celebratory image of the few survivors. Another assignment for Life Magazine took her to San Diego in November 1951, where she photographed an aerial view of the deck of the aircraft carrier the USS Boxer.
