Return from the Promenade
1868
Oil on Panel

Born in Budapest, Boutibonne made his reputation first in England, where he was a favorite of Queen Victoria, and later thrived in the academic art scene in Paris. He was known for his equestrian portraits of Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie and for his precisely rendered and stylish interior scenes of upper-class Paris. --MAB 2021
